For the first time, our Health Campus will play host when it opens its doors to the community on Sunday 8 April from 10am - 2pm.

Located at 17 Monash Avenue, Nedlands, and adjacent to the Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre, the UWA Health Campus will showcase all of our health offerings across faculties.

The event is the first of two major open days at UWA in 2018, with the second and well-known UWA Open Day taking place in August.

Liz Latham, Marketing and Communications Manager, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences SDC (Brand, Marketing and Recruitment) is helping to drive the plans for the Health Campus Open Day .

“Our market research shows there is a perception that UWA is considered to be theoretical and not practical. We’ve designed the Health Campus Open Day to counter this perception.

“We’re inviting the community to experience life as a UWA student through interactive displays, informal classes in our e-learning suites and unprecedented access to our Pathology Museum and labs.

“The day has been designed to allow the community to explore our facilities hands-on, meet with staff, alumni and students, and see that we are the state’s leader in health education.”

Visitors will be able to try their hand at digitally scanning teeth with our latest intra-oral scanners, see how their suturing and microscope skills measure up and use virtual reality to see how things like UV rays and cigarette smoke cause cancer at a molecular level.

Visitors can take a look inside the refurbished J.Robin Warren Library (formerly the Medical and Dental library) and e-learning suites.

“The Health Campus Open Day is predominantly tailored to high school students and their parents and we’ve communicated through channels including social media, local newspapers and extensive communications and promotions in high schools,” Liz said.

So if you, or your family and friends, are keen to explore our Health Campus, check out the event information. There’s also important safety information for the Pathology Museum and Laboratories along with transport options on the day.
