The UWA Boat Club is making a national name for itself, after two of its rowers claimed medals at the 2018 Sydney International Regatta this week.

Fraser Pensini took out Bronze in the under-23 men’s single, coming in behind Sam Marsh of WAIS and Tom Schramko of Mosman.

High-achiever Fraser is also a UWA graduate, having completed his studies in biomedical science late last year. He is currently taking this year off studies to try out for the national under-23 rowing team before starting medical school next year.

Meanwhile, Bronwyn Cox took out Gold in the under-23 women’s pair with Georgia Patten from WARC. Bronwyn enjoyed a dream debut at U23 level last year, combining with Annabelle McIntyre to win a silver medal in the final of the Olympic-class women’s pair at the World Championships in Bulgaria.

McIntyre has since moved into the open class, with Cox still just 21 years of age, and a bright future in rowing before her.

The pair were also joined by a range of UWA Boat Club members, including Alexandra Utley, Sophie Foster, Ethan Aird, Clare Netherway, Jack O'Dea, George White and Kaleb Jaschke.
