Professor Matthew Fox from Boston University’s Departments of Epidemiology and Global Health is currently visiting UWA from February 26 to March 9.

Professor Fox’s visit to WA is sponsored by the WA Health Translation Network and the School of Population and Global Health.

Professor Fox’s research interests focus on ways to improve retention in HIV-treatment programs in South Africa, infectious disease epidemiology (with specific interests in HIV and pneumonia), and epidemiologic methods.

During the first week Professor Fox presented a five day advanced epidemiology course, which was very well-received by 86 researchers, public health professionals, epidemiologists and clinicians from universities, research institutes and the Health Department.

In the second week of his visit Professor Fox is also presenting seminars and meeting with research groups with the UWA School of Population and Global Health, Curtin University, the WA Centre for Rural Health, Department of Health, and the WA AIDS Council.
