19 year old all-rounder Sean Stuart has had a successful turn with both bat and ball in recent games, having just joined the centurions club.

With star players such as Will Bosisto and Matt Kelly currently in the WA line-up, Stuart has been able to move around the order with more flexibility, batting from opener down to 10.

The 19-year-old, originally from Claremont Nedlands, debuted against his former club in the 2015-16 season after switching to UWA.

The university student, who received his Half-Blue last year, originally started further down the order as a spinner, but has convincingly made his case as an all-rounder.

With his chance at the top of the order, Stuart broke through to make his first century at First Grade level, scoring 114 against Mount Lawley from 172 with 16 fours.

“It’s definitely a bit different. Last year I opened the batting once, and it’s a completely different experience,” he said, “It’s allowed me to relax a bit more. It’s been really good.”

Stuart has also recently shown skill with the ball, taking a stunning six wickets against Gosnells. At 3-136, University’s bowlers, led by Sean Stuart, began to find their range which triggered a batting collapse for the visitors. Gosnells lost its final seven wickets for 26 runs, as Stuart ran riot, taking 6-28 from his 26 overs, which included 11 maidens.

With UWA now just inside the top six, the focus turns to maintaining their form to make the finals. The club are relying heavily on youth and new talent, and with players such as Stuart and Josh Dallimore stepping up, there appears to be a confidence about the team.
