UWA student athlete Aidan Read has made the switch from Lamborghini to Porsche, having made his debut GT3 season last year in a Lamborghini Huracan.

Joining Craft-Bamboo Racing Team, Aidan will drive a Porsche 911 GT3R through 2018, as he returns to the 12 round Blancpain GT Series Asia.

Read finished last year’s competition with second place in the final race on the Zhejiang Circuit. This year, he will be looking to improve on his driving and maintain a level of consistency throughout the series.

“I cannot wait to get started,” Aidan said. “Craft-Bamboo are an exceptionally professional outfit with a history and reputation for winning across a multitude of racing categories and were formidable competitors in Blancpain Asia last year.”

Aidan aims to follow in the footsteps of fellow Western Australian Daniel Riccardo, and make an international impact on motorsports. However, his ultimate goal is in a different competition, with his eye on the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

For now, the focus is the Blancpain GT Series Asia, which starts in Malaysia at the Sepang International Circuit on April 14-15. Rounds continue in Thailand and Japan before concluding in October in China.
