UWA Cricket Club all-rounder Ashton Agar is back in the Australian side, after being called up for the T20 tri-series against England and New Zealand this February.

The 24-year-old earnt his place in the squad after a strong display in the Big Bash League for Perth Scorchers.

His economy rate of 5.52 is the third best in the competition, and he has made who 142 runs with the bat at a strike rate of 132.7, playing a huge role in helping the Scorchers to seal a semi-final at Optus Stadium.

Agar has played alongside fellow UWA Cricket Club players James Muirhead and Will Bosisto (UWA student athlete) in a Scorchers squad that has defied injuries and national call ups to maintain winning form at the top of the table.

Agar is best remembered for his extraordinary Test debut, when he was plucked from obscurity by coach Darren Lehmann for the opening match of the 2013 Ashes and hit a stunning, record-breaking 98 — the most ever by a No.11.

Agar insists he is a different player and person to the 19-year-old who burst onto the radar of every cricket fan on the planet.

The first T20 international will be played at the SCG Saturday 3 February.
