This week 850 new bins will be rolled out across campus to streamline waste management practices and increase the University’s recycling rate.

The new red (waste) and yellow (recycling) bins, known as Internal General Waste and Co-mingled Recycling 60 litre Waste Stations, will be located roughly every 250 metres within buildings.

From Friday 2 February, individual 15 litre general waste and co-mingled recycling work station and office bins will be emptied by cleaners once a week. Staff are encouraged to empty their own 15 litre bins into the 60 litre waste station bins on the other four days of the working week.

The changes to waste management practices coincide with the commencement of the new cleaning and waste contractor, and are designed to reduce the amount of waste going into landfill.

Additional information regarding waste management will be made available to staff in the coming weeks.

Further information on the new waste management and cleaning practices, including specifications, will be available on the Campus Management website from Friday 2 February.
