The University has moved one step closer towards realising a new School of Indigenous Studies (SIS) building with the submission of a development application to the City of Perth.

The proposed building will provide an exciting working and learning environment for students and staff at the School of Indigenous Studies.

Responding to the School of Indigenous Studies’ need for larger accommodation, the proposed building will include informal learning spaces, collaborative learning and spill out spaces, and a variety of research and postgraduate office spaces.

Designed by Kerry Hill Architects, the new building will be located within the southern precinct of the University, directly south of Prescott Court and overlooking Matilda Bay—creating a connection from the campus to the river.

The University anticipates receiving development approval in March 2018. Construction will then begin in late 2018 with completion of the new SIS building expected in December 2019.
