Check out our selection of Australian literary award winning books for some summer reading inspiration, on display in the exhibition cabinets on ground floor of the Reid Library.

First Cabinet ‘Winners of Selected Australian Literary Awards 2017’
Here you will find page turners with pulsating action, love, death, success and dark desire… but also stories of reflections, a book about Frank Kafka and Prague’ literary world, and a young Frank Gold, protagonist in a novel about the Polio in Perth in 1954.

Second Cabinet ‘Miles Franklin Literary Award’
The Miles Franklin Literary Award is Australia’s most prestigious literature prize. Established through the will of My Brilliant Career ’s author, Miles Franklin, the prize is awarded each year to a novel which is of the highest literary merit and presents Australian life in any of its phases. This display includes the winner of 2017, Josephine Wilson, a former PhD student from the University of Western Australia, with her stunning book Extinctions , all the shortlisted books for 2017, and the winner since 2014 with their books.
