Achievement: Two UWA books have been shortlisted for the 2017 Prime Minister’s Literary Awards. Extinctions was written as part of Josephine Wilson’s Creative Writing PhD at UWA, and won the Miles Franklin Literary Award this year. Suzanne Falkiner’s Mick: A Life of Randolph Stow is the first biography of literary giant and UWA graduate and tutor Randolph Stow. He won the Miles Franklin at 23 for his novel Tourmaline.

Achievement: Professor Praeger is an internationally acclaimed mathematician who has been awarded an honorary doctorate from The University of Queensland (UQ), in recognition of her distinguished service to mathematics, her distinguished career achievement and academic distinction.
Name: UWA Alumni Relations Team
Achievement: Educate Plus WA has awarded the top prize for best practice in alumni and community relations to the UWA alumni relations team for the monthly online publication AlumniConnect
Name: Australian University Games/UWA
Achievement: Australian University Sport won bronze at the recent WA Tourism Awards for the Australian University Games that were held in Perth last year and the event’s contribution to the WA economy. UWA was the Partner University for the Games, significantly supporting the event through venues management, on the ground support and pre-event logistics.

Achievement: UWA’s staff and alumni were recognised at the Australian Institute of Architecture National Awards. Senior lecturer Jennie Officer was awarded the Sir Zelman Cowan Award for Public Architecture for the East Pilbara Arts Centre. Kerry Hill Architects, including Adjunct Professor Kerry Hill, won the Jørn Utzon Award for the Amanemu building in Japan, WOHA Architects, including Adjunct Professor Richard Hassell, won the Australian Award for Skyville@Dawson in Singapore.

Achievement: Six UWA professors have been named among the scientific researchers with the most global influence and impact: the 2017 Highly Cited Researchers List by Clarivate Analytics.
Name: UWA MBA full-time intensive program
Achievement: UWA’s 12-month MBA full-time intensive program has ranked fifth in Australia and equal 16th in the Asia Pacific Region in In the 2018 QS MBA rankings of global MBA programs. The program also ranked first in Australia for MBA entrepreneurship and alumni outcomes. UWA’s MBA program began in 2015 with support from the Business School Board and key industry partners.
