The UWA Judo Club was honoured with rank four in the Judo Federation of Australia 2017 National Star Club Rankings.

The club is considered a four star club (over one hundred members), and sits in just behind Marrara Judo Club from the Northern Territory.

In a win for the sport and for the club, UWA’s member numbers have increased exponentially, going from 82 last year, to 111 this year. 21.62% female involvement is also a step forward, and stands better than top club UNSW Judo.

Ranking top in Western Australia, UWA Judo leapfrog fellow WA club Judo International, who fall to sixth spot.

The news comes after UWA Judo’s Rhys Allan picked up silver in the 73kg junior men division at the Melbourne International. Rhys also just missed out on bronze, competing in the senior men’s division in the same weight.

Furthermore, the UWA Judo Club was pleased to share its programs and strategies with other Australian Judo Clubs at the second National Judo Clubs Seminar.

President Stockley Davis discussed the club’s engagement with the community, the involvement of kids in the UWA Judo program, and opportunities for international exchange.
