The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences congratulates Professor Jeffrey Keelan in his appointment as Head of School, School of Biomedical Sciences.

Currently in his first week in the new position, Professor Keelan joined the School of Biomedical Sciences on Monday 30 October.

Professor Wendy Erber, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean of the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences said she is delighted with the appointment.

“Professor Keelan has been at UWA since 2007 and will be well known to many in the Faculty. Jeff is a highly productive researcher with interests in infection and inflammation, drug delivery systems in pregnancy, the microbiome, metagenomics and lipidomics.”

“With his strong leadership and experience, Professor Keelan is very capable of leading the School of Biomedical Sciences and I wish him well in the new position.”

“I also take this opportunity to thank Professor Hugh Barrett, who has been Acting Head of School, along with Professor Cathy Cole who was Interim Head of School until early September. Professor Cole will be leaving the University on 30 November to take up an exciting role in Doha, Qatar.”

“I hope you will join me in congratulating Professor Keelan on this appointment and thank Professor Cole and Professor Barrett for their support and commitment to the School,” Professor Erber said.
