The School of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering would like to congratulate two students Abdul Aziz and Tom McKeon who have secured careers with BHP Billiton following the 2016 MineHack .
In May 2016, Unearthed and BHP joined forces to present MineHack Perth. This was a unique event in which innovators and technology developers came together for 54 hours, exploring real-life challenges and data provided by BHP Billiton’s Western Australia Iron Ore operation. Through this event they fostered prototype solutions for more efficient, productive and safer ways to work. event.
Unearthed hosts many prominent hacking events, with the intent to foster an entrepreneurial drive in attendees whilst equipping them with the practical and logistical skills necessary to succeed in industry. MineHack Perth offered participants the opportunity to explore software and hardware related work in the resources sector. It also provided an invaluable insight into BHP Billiton, one of the world’s largest diversified resources companies. We hope that Abdul and Tom have settled into their new positions.
