Good morning. I am extremely proud that UWA researchers have played an important role in another significant astronomical discovery.

In August 2017, the collision of two neutron stars was detected and scientists around the globe worked together to capture a wealth of data that could assist with hundreds of future discoveries. Our researchers will be presenting details of the discovery tomorrow at 1pm in the Alexander Lecture Theatre , or read below to learn more.

I look forward to celebrating this and our many other achievements from 2017 at the final Town Hall of the year on Friday 1 December at 1pm in the Octagon. We will continue the celebrations later that afternoon at the end of year Staff Thank You event and I invite you to join me at the University Club from 3pm; please save the date and you will receive an official invite shortly.
