A series of upgrades to the University’s telephone system will be commencing this month, the first of which will take place between 8:30am and 12:30pm (4 hours), Sunday October 8.

During this window, telephone services will be affected as per the points below:

  • Any external calls to University number ranges will be redirected to an automated answering service, advising the caller that the phone system is undergoing maintenance.
  • Any IP-based handsets (desk phones) will be unusable – please note that this does not apply to the majority of staff desk phones.
  • Voicemail services will be unavailable.
  • Internal calls (i.e. from one UWA to extension to another) will be unaffected.
  • Emergency phones in campus lifts will be unaffected.
  • Campus Security numbers will be unaffected, however any external calls (i.e. from a mobile phone) to Campus Security will be redirected to an automated answering service, advising the caller – in the case of an emergency – to instead call 1800 655 222

A forward-schedule of upgrades and outages can be found on the Uni IT Telephone System Upgrade article .
