--UPDATE--14 September 2017

Works are being undertaken to rectify a gas leak detected in a section of pipework adjacent the Psychology Building on Saw Promenade. The pipework is external to the building and currently being replaced.

As a safety precaution for staff and students, Campus Management is carrying out ongoing gas monitoring on all floors of the Psychology and Social Sciences buildings. To date these tests have returned no readings of gas odours/leaks.

There will be no service interruption to your gas supply at this stage.

An unknown gas odour has been detected in the external cable pits and adjacent basement plumbing duct at Psychology Building (347).

Environmental consultants have been engaged to test and investigate the gas concentrated areas and will provide results and recommendations.

An extraction fan is currently being used to eliminate the area of the concentrated gas odours.

We will issue an update as soon as possible on the status of the investigation.

If you have any queries, please contact Shannon Fitzpatrick on 6488 3570.

We thank you for your understanding as we seek to rectify this matter as promptly as possible.
