Graduates of The University of Western Australia are earning the second-highest starting salary in Australia, according to The Good Universities Guide released today by Good Education Group.

The 2018 guide revealed UWA graduates earned an average of $60,900, well above the average Australian university graduate starting salary of $56,000. University of Southern Queensland graduates were the highest paid at $61,000.

UWA graduates earned a starting salary in the top 20 per cent across five fields of study: communications, computing and information systems, dentistry and medicine.

UWA was the third most popular university of choice for prospective students with high entrance scores, receiving the highest rating of five stars for student demand. The University of Melbourne was the most in-demand, followed by the University of NSW.

UWA also achieved a five-star rating for student: staff ratio and its strongest area of study was communications, achieving five stars in full-time employment as well as starting salary.

The Good Education Group uses government data to compile the annual guide which aims to help high school leavers and prospective students make an informed decision about undergraduate study.

The Good Universities Guide is Australia’s biggest course comparison site with more than 30,000 courses listed. Five stars are awarded to universities which achieve results placing them in the top 20 per cent of Australia’s institutions.

The ratings follow the release earlier this month of the Academic Ranking of World Universities, in which UWA climbed five places to be ranked 91st in the world.
