UWA first hosted a Partnership Forum with Korea's Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) in 2016 to build research and teaching partnerships. Its success has led to a second event which will be held in Seoul on 21-22 September 2017.

In its first year the project led to opportunities for collaboration and exchanges in medicine, expansion microscopy, physics and in Korean language education for UWA students.

Drawing on both Universities’ research strengths, the second forum will develop new opportunities in research collaborations including social sciences, law, humanities, Indigenous studies, computer engineering and biomedical engineering. The project is partly funded by a grant from the Australia-Korea Foundation. (Chief Investigators: Dr Jo Elfving-Hwang, Mr Iain Watt, Professor Wendy Erber, Professor Ian MacArthur and Professor Len Collard).

We will report back on learnings and opportunities discussed next month.
