The University of Western Australia has a continual roll call of awards, scholarships and prizes presented to staff and students.

Awards and achievements

Name: Dr Willem Joost Lesterhuis
Achievement: Dr Willem Joost Lesterhuis was awarded an RD Wright Biomedical Fellowship (top ranking candidate for Level 1) and the inaugural Bernie Banton Fellowship at the recent NHMRC Excellence Awards. The NHMRC Excellence Awards acknowledge the top ranked applicants across NHMRC research funding categories.

Name: WA Mental Health Awards (2017)
Achievement: Perth Voices Clinic (a UWA collaborator) which is directed by UWA Professor Johanna Badcock won the Innovation Award at the WA Mental Health Awards (2017) ceremony. The awards celebrate individuals, organisations and groups that have made an outstanding contribution to mental health in Western Australia.

Name: National Endowment for Science Technology and the Arts prizes
Achievement: The Encompass Consortium based within The Marshall Centre at The University of Western Australia on the Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre campus has been awarded a Discovery Award seed-funding grant. The prize acknowledges the consortium's work on a point-of-care diagnostic method for determining antibiotic susceptibility against some of the most antimicrobial resistant bacteria.
