Future students, parents and the community are invited to explore the campus and find out everything they need to know about studying at The University of Western Australia at this year’s Open Day on Sunday 13 August from 10am to 4pm.

Our world needs the inspired minds of today to create new solutions to global problems so come and speak to University staff and students about the work they’re doing and how a UWA degree can prepare you for the careers of the future.

Staff at the Future Students Hub on James Oval will be able to answer questions and provide information on admission, scholarships, courses, career options and student life. While you’re there have a go at writing your future and then dive into a giant ball pit to try and win some great prizes.

You can also chat to representatives from UWA’s Guild clubs or chill out on the lawn at James Oval while listening to some inspiring current and recently graduated students talk about courses and careers.

Hunger is one of the world’s leading health issues, with 870 million people going hungry every day. Listen to our inspirational leaders and find out what staff and students are working on to help feed our future. Our state-of-the-art Bayliss Building is home to some innovative research projects and will showcase interactive science, botany and agribusiness displays.

Visit the new world-class Indian Ocean Marine Research Centre, home to the largest cohort of marine researchers in Australia where you can talk to staff members about their research into wave energy. With 2.7 million jobs worldwide likely to be created by the transition to sustainable energy, this could be your future.

The $62 million, six-storey building also houses a 26-tonne centrifuge capable of spinning 2400kg at a G-level of 100, which is a force 10 times greater than an astronaut experiences during training.

Visit the iconic Winthrop Hall, take a tram tour around campus and listen to some live music. Visitors can also tour facilities including the five residential colleges, enjoy a meal at The University Club, check out the latest exhibitions at Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery and tour our sporting facilities.
