Dear Colleagues,

I would like to advise you of two major IT projects which will shortly be launched, both of which will deliver significant improvements to our current IT services.

Office365

Starting this June, we will be commencing our migration to Office 365, Microsoft’s cloud-based productivity suite. The Office 365 platform will provide staff with enhanced Office-suite functionality across a wide range of operating systems and devices (i.e. mobile phones, tablets), while improving our collaboration capabilities both internally and with external business partners. Notably, email quotas will also be greatly increased.

The first phase of this migration will be focussed on our Email and Calendaring Service & SharePoint environment, while subsequent phases will investigate other services the Office 365 platform can provide, with assistance and input from business representatives across the University.

Staff will receive detailed instructions when their Email or SharePoint services are being migrated, and can contact their SDC if they require any further assistance.

IT Service Portal

The new IT Service Portal will go live on July 1, and will improve the way that staff, students and guests engage with IT. The Portal will provide a user-friendly method of requesting services and assistance, enabling staff, students and guests to quickly find what they’re looking for. This uplift will bring University IT in line with similar service providers, allowing for quicker identification and resolution of issues.

Please note that the Portal will complement all existing methods of interacting with IT – staff are still more than welcome to email or call SDCs if they prefer.

If you have any further queries, please don’t hesitate to contact myself or your SDC.

Regards

Pranay Lodhiya

Interim Chief Operating Officer
