Athletics WA has today announced it’s junior high-performance squads for the 2017/18 season. A total of 93 athletes have been selected to join the Target Talent Program and Talent ID Squad for the next 12-months.
A number of UWA Athletics Club athletes have been selected in the squad including Junior Para-athlete Jackson Hamilton, Hurdler Thomas Throssell and sprinters Sophie White and Jenna Bain following break-out performances at this year's Australian Athletics Championship. Long-time club coach Lyn Foreman represents twelve of the 93 athletes selected.
“It’s great to invite so many talented athletes to join Athletics WA’s high-performance pathway. With many of the athletes producing outstanding results at the 2017 Australian Athletics Championships in Sydney, I am confident this squad will continue to produce excellent results at a national level over the next 12-months.” Athletics WA High-Performance Manager Mel Tantrum said.
Qualification for the squads are based off results attained at the 2016 Australian All School Championships and 2017 Australian Athletics Championship.
