Your Say survey FAQs

Why are we doing the Your Say survey?

We are doing the Your Say survey to better understand the real experience of working at UWA, both the good and the bad, because we can’t fix what we don’t know.

What will the survey provide?

The Your Say survey is an opportunity for our staff to tell us confidentially about the critical issues within UWA with the resulting reports providing suggestions on what we can do to improve.

Why are we using an external company to conduct the survey?

We have contracted an expert organisation, Voice Project, to ensure full anonymity for staff undertaking the survey and an independent analysis of the results.

Who is ‘Voice Project’?

The Voice Project are a third party research and consulting company associated with Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia.

When will the survey be run?

6 June 2017 to 19 June 2017.

How can I access the Your Say survey?

On the 6 June, staff (excluding casual staff) will be sent a unique link from Voice Project inviting them to confidentially complete the survey.

Why will I be given a unique link if my response is meant to be anonymous?

The unique link is to ensure a single response from each person and Voice Project will maintain staff anonymity such that no responses will be linked to personal data .

I am unsure what to select in response to the demographic questions around my area of work, how do I confirm this information?

If you are unsure of what to select for the demographic questions please log in to the UWA HR Portal using your Pheme details and click the ‘Your Say staff survey support’ link available on the home page. This will bring up the correct organisational structure for your role that you can note down and use to answer the questions.

Why do staff need to identify their work area?

This will provide benchmark data while ensuring work areas gain targeted feedback that can be used for action planning.

I work in a very small team, won’t it be easy to figure out which response is mine?

Teams under 10 staff members will not be reported on as a unit, instead these will be grouped with similar areas and a combined report will be provided.

How long will the survey take to complete?

The survey should take around 10 minutes to complete.

Will I get to see the survey results?

Yes. Survey results will be shared with all staff later in the year.

How will the results be reported?

We will receive a survey report for the full university as well as a number of reports for some faculties and functional areas.

How will the results be used?

We will work together to create and implement university-wide and local area action plans to address any issues or gaps identified from the survey.

I received an invitation to complete an NTEU ‘State of the Uni’ survey, also called Your Say. Are these surveys the same?

No, despite having the same name these are different surveys. The University’s survey focuses solely on understanding your experience of working at UWA. You will be sent an invitation to complete the University’s survey on 6 June and we encourage you to provide your experiences.
