The University carries out campus-wide building inspections for existing and potential hazards, and to ensure all building spaces are safe, compliant and ready for occupation at the beginning of each semester.

Inspections were carried out to 142 education, research and office buildings in January and February this year, which resulted in the generation of 234 work service requests.

The pre-semester inspections involve a visual and operational checklist to include:

  • Fixtures, fittings and equipment
  • Furniture quantity and configuration against room capacity
  • AV and IT functionality
  • Room presentation and cleanliness

All identified critical works were given priority and have been completed. The non-critical works will be scheduled for completion according to priority and budget constraints.

The next round of inspections will be undertaken prior to the commencement of semester 2 (June and July).

For more information on the pre-semester inspections, contact the Campus Services Officer within your Service Delivery Centre.
