The 2017 Sydney International Rowing Regatta kicked off this week, with several of our UWA Boat Club members competing at the championships. Running 27 March – 2 April, the Regatta incorporates the Australian Rowing Championships, the Kings and Queens Cup Interstate Regatta, and the Australian Open Schools Rowing Championships.

Days one and two saw some exciting results come through for our athletes. UWA Boat Clubs James Kerr (who was recently selected to compete at the World Cup 3 in Switzerland as a member of the Australian lightweight men’s quad scud) has progressed into the Open Lightweight Scull A final after coming second place in his heat on day two. Fellow club members Annabelle McIntyre [FRC] and Bronnie Cox took out first place in the U23 Pair, taking them straight to the A final.

Scullers Samuel Jaschke, Alexandra Utley and Ethan Aird each won their repechage race earning them a place in the semi-finals on day three, joining James McQuillan who took out third place in his heat.

Fraser Pensini and  Willis Armstrong [FRC] finished second in the u23 Men's Double and are onto finals joining Zen Vakil and Samuel Jaschke in progressing to day three of competition.

Good luck to all our athletes competing over the week!
