Due to the high temperatures forecasted this week, it is expected there will be localised interruptions to air-conditioning across the campus from 2pm on Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 January 2017.

The University, like many other large organisations in Western Australia, has an agreement with Western Power to help manage peak demand for electricity. During extreme weather conditions, the University could be asked - at short notice - to reduce its electricity consumption. The arrangement is described as load shedding.

On very hot days, this often means that services such as air-conditioners will be reduced for a specified period of time, usually in the afternoon. This is to ensure supply of power to critical buildings and equipment is maintained.

What do I need to do?
Try to minimise your power usage by switching off unnecessary electrical equipment, including computers, monitors and lighting.

If you have any queries or issues arising from load shedding, please contact your Faculty Head of SDC, or alternatively email [email protected] or call extension 2025.
