This is Riznaldi. Riznaldi was just awarded a Hadi Soesastro Prize! Presented by Foreign Minister, The Hon Julie Bishop MP , the awards support Indonesian academics who are completing their doctorates in Australia & aim to develop young leaders & promote education links between the two countries. Only two prizes are awarded each year.

Riznaldi is a final-year Ph.D. student in Economics at The University of Western Australia . His study focuses on the ways that government couldbenefit from a successful debt management & borrowing program. His research will provide key policy recommendations & practical implementations for governments.

Prior to winning the Hadi Soesastro Prize, he was the winner of the 2016 UWA Sport Logo Competition, giving him two 12 month passes to the UWA Sport and Rec Centre, and is a great example of the importance of keeping fit and health to be at the top of your game!

Here are Riznaldi's Top 5 Tips for Winning an Award:

1. Be well prepared. To make a high-quality application, he started writing three months before the due date. Make sure you read all the entry criteria eligibility & rules before you start to complete your application. Don't miss any required documents such as a referee letter, study plan, budget estimation & appendices.

2. Do your research. Learn from the best. He contacted previous winners & had intense chats with them, and listened to their tips very carefully. Take your time to go through them to see what they did and what they recommend when filling in the application form.

3. Be bold. Make sure you highlight your past achievements including awards, academic records & any contributions that you have made for you institution & society. Prove you are the best candidate to get an award. Always back up your claims with evidence, especially proof of innovation, leadership, positive impact to the community & social responsibility.

4. Collaboration. Do not try to submit an application by yourself, as your application can only get better with another person's point of view. He numerously asked his colleagues to give him inputs, suggestions, or to proofread his answers. There is no room for error on your application. As the panellists review a number of applications, your job is to make your application outstanding & shine compared to others!

5. Persuade them! Demonstrate how you have achieved clear benefits to the award institution, university, your institution & the general public. To make a strong application, you need to persuade the board of panellists with compelling reasoning that you're really the right person for the award.

Congratulations on all of your achievements Riznaldi! #humansofuwa #humansofuwasport
