With an updated format, Friday's Staff Sports Day was a great success with over 500 staff and 12 faculties and divisions competing for the coveted Champion title, ultimately taken out by Science.

The afternoon began with a 5km fun run around the UWA grounds and surrounding area. The day also saw teams play off in several competitions including volleyball and soccer, as well as a variety of novelty games.

The VC dash was, as always a highlight, with a late entry from Professor Dawn Freshwater taking punters by surprise.

The volleyball was a hotly contested competition this year, and was taken out by the Chief Operating Office while the soccer competition was won by the team from Student Support. Not to be outdone Community and Engagement conquered all in the croquet.

Robert Busi from The Faculty of Science blitzed the field in the 5k run taking first place, followed closely by Carl Blair, also from Science. Lisabeth Wagner from Engineering and Maths took home first place in the women's event, while Moira O’Brien Smith was second place for the Vice-Chancellery.

The fun run was scored based on the first faculty to have ten participants cross the line, and for 2016 the Faculty of Science has taken home the win!  See their results below:

Roberto Busi – 15:41

Carl Blair – 17.37

Darren Clarke – 18.21

Sergii Romanenko – 18.23
