Dear colleagues

I am pleased to announce that following an internal expression of interest (EOI) and selection process, Mark Stickells, currently Director of UWA's Energy and Minerals Institute, has accepted an offer to be appointed as UWA’s first Director of Business Development.

Mark has extensive experience across a range of industries and sectors through his role with the Energy and Minerals Institute and former roles as CEO of the WA Energy Research Alliance and Commercial Director of Future Farm Industries CRC Ltd.  Mark will continue to work closely with the UWA Executive, across Faculties and key functions to develop and implement growth opportunities for the University.

The new Business Development function will look to build on the success of EMI and its allied programs, including UWA IQ, incorporating them into a broader strategy of forging deep and strong relationships with companies and other stakeholders across all sectors of our economy. The function will commence in 2017, aligned to the new Faculty structure and guided by an Industry Engagement Board. The current Energy and Minerals Institute Board, led by Dr Megan Clark, has supported this transition to a wider portfolio approach and focus on key themes, including UWA’s existing strengths in energy and minerals.

I am sure you will join me in congratulating Mark on his appointment and offer your support as he steps into the role in 2017.

Kind regards

Professor Kent Anderson

Deputy Vice Chancellor (Community and Engagement)
