On Friday UWA experienced an outage to its IT network causing the UWA Data Centre to go offline. On Friday evening after thorough investigations the cause of the issue was identified as a faulty data centre switch at the Data Centre. This switch was subsequently disabled and the network connection restored.

As a result of the outage the data centre switch needed to be replaced urgently on Saturday night. Extensive testing on the new switch occurred on Sunday morning confirming the replacement had been successful.
