Open Day is our premier future student event, and provides the opportunity to showcase our unique campus and its offerings to this valuable audience. Future students and their families attend to seek information on the many course and career opportunities available at UWA and to chat to staff and current students for an insight into student life.

Building on the success of the Future Students Hub in 2015, this year includes an expanded hub on James Oval with an interactive video wall allowing students to place themselves on the cover of a virtual magazine.  Another great feature for visitors to UWA Open Day 2016 is the You Zone – allowing them the chance to relax on beanbags with personalised music, make their own juice drink and participate in the ‘What Makes YOU’ wall which uses string to map out individuals interests and career pathways.

There will be many information sessions covering such topics as:

  • first year experiences
  • studying abroad with UWA
  • essential things year 12’s need to know
  • how to maximise your ATAR

There will also be plenty of fun including competitions, food stalls, family friendly activities, exhibition matches, the option of testing your athletic ability with members of the West Coast Fever, free fitness consultations, the Great UWA Art Heist, a black hole simulation, never-before-seen artwork from Miriam Stannage, scenic tram rides, a UWA Architectural landmarks tour, hunting for Pokémon and much more.

An Open Day Planner is available on the event website , allowing attendees to pre-select what they want to do on the day, and put together their own schedule. Staff and their families are encouraged to attend and enjoy the festivities on the day.

The success of Open Day relies on an incredible amount of effort from staff and volunteers who give up their valuable time over the weekend for this event to take place.
