Professor David Preen is the first to confess that UWA is more like a second home than a workplace. Recently appointed as the Chair in Public Health, the Professor took this opportunity to expand his career and areas of focus.

Previously Director of the Centre for Health Services Research for 10 years, the UWA graduate is six months into the Chair role and has started to foster greater collaboration between researchers and policy makers.

There is a disconnect between the great research being completed across the State and policy decisions and this role straddles the divide. The end goal is to bring about evidence-based policy that will improve public health outcomes for everyone in WA.
