Today’s Q and A of the Day focuses on athlete Samuel Lade, international triathlon competitor, and UWA Triathlon Club Member.

Q: What are your competition plans for the rest of 2016?

A: I’ve been selected to compete at the 2016 FISU (International University Sport Federation) World University Triathlon Championships in Nyon, Switzerland (08/08/2016)

Q: What is the Sporting Achievement you are most proud of?

A:The achievement I am most proud of to date would have to be gaining selection into the Australian team for the World University Triathlon Championships to compete in Nyon, Switzerland in August’

Q: What is your major sporting goal for the next 5 years?

A: My goals for the next 3-5 years would have to be continuing to improve my world ranking and gain selection into higher level races. I also hope to achieve selection into the Australian Under 23 Triathlon team in the coming years. However I just really want to continue to improve, get stronger and gain more experience while continuing to enjoy the sport’

Q: How will the bursary aid you in achieving your long term sporting goals?

A: The Bursary will be a massive in helping me go and race in Europe this year and allow me to gain experience racing against a higher level of competition. Being included in the Student Athlete Development Program will help me manage my study and university commitments while balancing training and competition requirements’

Q: What are some of you best times at UWA, has sport been a big part of your journey?

The UWA Triathlon Club has been massive in helping me grow and develop over the years in the sport of Triathlon. I have been a member since I first started the sport as an 11 year old in 2006 attending bike/run sessions coached by Grant Landers. I have really enjoyed my time studying at UWA since 2013 and look forward to staying in touch with the uni through the Triathlon Club when I finish up my degree at the end of the year’
