Dear Colleagues,

This is a reminder that the current University Class of Travel policy states that staff/students are required to travel economy class, subject to some limited exceptions.

Please note that the following exception was revoked in 2015:

• If other accompanying business persons are travelling business class or premium economy class.

The following exceptions remain in place:

• Where it is a condition of the staff member’s employment contract.
• On medical grounds: before making the travel arrangement the staff member/student must provide a current medical certificate from a medical practitioner to support the need to travel business class.
• The nature and timing of the journey, impact on employee/student productivity/the need to conduct in-flight business.

Please ensure that all affected staff members and travel arrangers in your areas are aware of the above policy, available at: https://www.finserv.uwa.edu.au/travel-at-uwa/travel/booking . In addition, approvers must ensure that they specifically consider the appropriateness of business class travel requests.
