A student’s UWA experience begins the moment they receive their offer and this year they received their warmest welcome ever. After completing a review of the offer process, strategic improvements were made to streamline it and also make UWA’s initial offer communications more engaging to school leavers. One major driver for this was the need to refresh the language so new students felt welcomed to the University.

“Previous offer letters were very matter of fact and provided a lot of directives but no welcoming words. We knew more could be done to make new students feel excited about joining the UWA community” says Karen Carriero, UWA’s Chief Marketing Officer.

As well as a language overhaul, a welcome pack was also developed that was timed to arrive soon after students received their offer . Students were thrilled to receive these packs with some taking to social media to express their delight.

This new student offer experience was internationally recognised with a CASE Circle of Excellence Strategic Communications award last week and the initiative is currently being reviewed to see what improvements can be made for next year.
