The UniWA Project , part of the IT Transformation Program, aims to change the way we work with computers and collaborate both on and off campus. A key milestone of this project is the migration of all staff computers onto a single domain, UniWA.

We are pleased to announce the schedule for the UniWA migrations has now been finalised. The dates are as follows:

  • 06/06/16 – 30/06/16: Central Administration (BITS Supported Areas)
  • 16/06/16 – 01/07/16: Faculty of Science
  • 16/06/16 – 07/07/16: Faculty of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences
  • 21/06/16 – 22/07/16: Business, Law & School of Indigenous Studies
  • 29/06/16 – 19/07/16: Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry & Health Sciences
  • 12/07/16 – 26/07/16: CELT

What do I need to do?

Please prepare for the migration by performing data clean-up activities, instructions on how to do this are available on the UniWA website . If you have research data you wish to migrate, please consider using the Institutional Research Data Store .

Please note that your machine must be switched ON and plugged in to the wired network during your scheduled migration period.

What should I expect during the migration?

During the migration you will experience a slight disruption, though we aim to keep this minimal. Once the migration of your machine is complete, your machine will need to restart. To minimise disruption, this will be on a timer to occur out of business hours, however you can manually restart your machine at any time once the timer commences if you prefer.

Post-migration

When you log in to your machine following the migration, you will need to use your StaffID and Pheme password. Initially, your computer may be slow while your local documents sync to UniWA storage (H drive). This is not expected to persist - if it does, please get in touch with your local IT team .

Migration of shared drives and printers will occur at a later date, at which time their naming conventions may change – these processes will occur in the background, and you will moved onto the migrated services automatically.

If you are away during the migration period, you will be able to schedule your migration with your local IT team upon your return.
