Lucy Tillotson, Pop Health major student, reporting on the Australian World Health Organisation Conference

"I just returned from the Australian World Health Organisation Conference.
It was a great opportunity to network with students from across Australia & NZ, studying a range of degrees including public health, medicine & international relations.

Over the course of the program, we were organised in blocs to draft resolutions. These blocs were separated into the Europe Bloc, Americas, Asia-Pacific and Africas. I was chosen to represent the UK in the Europe Bloc.

After creating a working paper, we then joined with the other delegates (there were ~120) in the Plenary sessions, where we eventually passed a resolution.

Both of the sessions provided a good opportunity to improve public speaking & debating skills.

I especially enjoyed the opportunity to discuss non-communicable diseases, in particular obesity & its prevalence among women in the UK. The debates were all really great."
