If you happened to pass by the University Club last Wednesday night, you may have heard the cries of victory as the UWA Torpedoes celebrated their recent National Title win by presenting UWA Sport with the National Water Polo League Championship trophy!

The UWA Torpedoes sailed to victory in the April nationals capturing their maiden National Water Polo League title for the first time since joining the competition twelve years ago. Prior to the National championship game, the Torpedoes held the titles in every other age group, so the pressure was on to make it a clean sweep.  Coming away with a win gives the club bragging rights as the current holders of all the men’s Australian titles, winning the U/14, U/16, U/18 and now the NWPL title!

The win seems to have boosted the morale in the pool as our social water polo competition is now boasting enough numbers for ten teams in our Wednesday night social comp. Coinciding with the Torpedoes celebrations, the social competition kicked off on Wednesday - what a way to start the season. With mixed teams of novices and resident players, the competition is set to run for the next seven weeks.

Why not come check them out, and see how you can get involved? The competition runs at Wednesday nights at the UWA Sport science from 7pm – hope to see you there.
