As the water laps the Matildas Bay foreshore and a warm morning breeze fills the air, new arrivals wander down to the UWA boat shed with an air of excited anticipation. They are preparing to head off on a mountain biking adventure challenge to the Perth Hills as part of the UWA Sport leadership course.

“The course runs each semester and offers students a unique opportunity to gain lifelong skills while making new friends in a fun and challenging environment”, says coordinator Bob Herriman.

The challenging cycle course and walk trail will test the participants’ physical and emotional strength as they travel to the Perth Hills around Kalamunda and visit the Camel Farm to access the first leg of the Munda Biddi mountain biking trail.  Throughout the day they will also spend time on foot navigating various trails including the Bibbulmun Track, one of the longest and most famous treks in southern WA.

This inspiring one-day course teaches participants valuable team building, leadership and communication skills which can become an invaluable addition to ones skill-set.
