University Hall (UniHall) is proud of their connections with Indigenous Australia and excited by the opportunity for postgraduate residents’ to display an original piece of Indigenous artwork in their one bedroom apartments.

Art Collector Dr Jo Lagerberg and Professor Ted Snell, Director Cultural Precinct at The University of Western Australia (UWA) have been working with UniHall to bring together a collection of Indigenous art for UniHall residents to loan.

Dr Lagerberg shares her passion for the arts by collecting and generously donating Indigenous artwork. She has kindly donated a collection consisting of 31 original artwork pieces  to UniHall from communities including but not limited to Watarra, Martumili, Warburton and Papulankutja.

“I love Indigenous art and am excited to be able to share some of these rare and beautiful pieces with the student community at UniHall” said Dr Lagerberg.

On Thursday 17 March 2016, over 50 postgraduate residents attended the UniHall Indigenous Artwork Exhibition to launch the collection. Throughout the evening, Dr Lagerberg shared the story of the artworks with residents as they were chosen, at random, to select an artwork to display in their room.

Residents are thrilled to have an artistic piece to display in their room for 2016.

“I’m excited to display a piece of artwork in my room which showcases the creativity and talent of our Indigenous artists,” said UniHall resident Micah Kickett.

UniHall will continue this new found tradition and are ever thankful to Dr Lagerberg for her generosity in donating and sharing the story of this beautiful and valuable Indigenous artwork collection.
