UWA EECE researchers Professors Herbert Iu and Kit Po Wong were highlighted in an article entitled New Wind-Forecasting Algorithm Could Mean Cost-Savings for Power Companies featured on the IEEE XPLORE Innovation Spotlight webpage.

Professor Herbert Iu and his team created an algorithm that is showing better accuracy at predicting wind speeds. The current study was based on data from three different wind farms in Wisconsin, USA. A new study, led by Prof Iu, based on data collected from wind farms across Australia is proposed as further verification. The studies could save power companies a lot of money in the future.
