The Reid Library Ground Floor Refurbishment project is reaching a critical stage and significant work relating to power, data and communications is required in the coming weeks. Some services in Reid will be disrupted as a result.

Our first priority is to keep Reid Library open and available at this busy time in semester, however the work will necessitate a reduction in services on certain dates.

Services will be affected as follows:

  • 6-8 April 2016 - BYOD service will relocate from Reid Library to Barry J Marshall Library.
  • 8-10 April 2016– Reid First Floor Collaborative Area closed. High Demand collection and services on the First Floor will operate as usual, however study desks, student PCs and printing in this area will be unavailable.
  • 16-17 April 2016 – Reid First Floor Collaborative Area closed. High Demand collection and services on the First Floor will operate as usual, however study desks, student PCs, printing and self-check loans in this area will be unavailable.
  • 7 May 2016 - Reid Library Third Floor closed 6.30am-10.30am. Reid Library Second Floor closed 11am-3pm. Library users will be asked to relocate accordingly. If items from the collection are needed during the floor closures, staff will be able to fetch them upon request. These floor closures are due to an electrical cutover of lighting and to ensure the safety of library users.
  • 14 May 2016 – Reid Library closed from 1:00am until 5:00pm. This is due to a total power outage in the building while a significant amount of electrical work takes place over multiple floors in Reid Library. Reid will reopen at 5:00pm.

We thank the UWA community for their patience during these works, which will result in improved facilities and more sustainable solutions to power and data in Reid Library. All other UWA Libraries will be open and operating as usual during this period. More chairs have been made available in Barry J Marshall Library to help meet the demand for seating.
