Reid Library will re-open on 22 February 2016. The Ground Floor of Reid Library will remain closed as refurbishment continues.

From 22 February 2016 the University is welcoming UWA students and staff back into Reid Library building. Library services will be operating as usual and staff will be available at the first floor Information Desk. The ground floor of Reid Library will remain closed in Semester 1, 2016, as renovations continue.

The Reid Library Ground Floor Refurbishment Project will ensure that Reid Library remains a high quality facility for student learning, with the technology and facilities to meet the needs of the current and future UWA community. On completion (expected August 2016) the number of student spaces for collaborative and informal learning will increase from 350 to 700. The project will also deliver significant improvements to the facilities, technology and services offered to students, including upgraded bathrooms, access to Wi-Fi and power, and a new café. Attracting students from all UWA faculties, the Reid Library is one of the busiest student buildings on campus, and receives over 1 million visits annually. The Library opens 24 hours during the busiest periods in the academic year.

A number of new and temporary arrangements will be in place in Reid Library for Semester 1, 2016:

  • While the ground floor is unavailable, the first floor of Reid Library will be a temporary collaborative study zone.
  • The Reid Library Café will remain closed until further notice. A temporary café will be in place on Saw Promenade.
  • Reid Balcony is a new collaborative study zone on the Reid First Floor Walkway.
  • Earplugs will be available in Reid Library and use of the other UWA Libraries is encouraged in the event of disturbance from construction noise.

Please contact us with any questions.

We thank the UWA community for their patience during our temporary closure over the summer vacation.
