An estimated 50,000 people flocked to Langley Park on Saturday night to experience Home , a celebration of Western Australia in honour of the Perth International Arts Festival opening.

Set against a spectacular 60-metre-long cinematic backdrop, Home showcased the beauty of the west with stunning animations projected across five massive three-storey houses.

The event featured more than 500 home-grown performers live on stage, including a 60 piece orchestra, 300 members of the Noongar community and a stellar line-up of Western Australian talent, including Tim Winton, The Waifs, Ernie Dingo, John Butler Trio and UWA alumnus Tim Minchin (pictured).

Founded in 1953 by The University of Western Australia, the Perth International Arts Festival is the longest running international arts festival in Australia and Western Australia’s premier cultural event.

The 2016 Perth International Arts Festival runs until Sunday 6 March.
