Perth International Arts Festival is delighted to announce musician, actor, comedian and writer Tim Minchin has joined the stellar line-up of Western Australian artists for the epic celebration of landscape, culture and community, Home.

For the Lotterywest Festival Opening of 2016 Perth International Arts Festival on Saturday February 13, Home will feature a roll call of Western Australia’s most acclaimed and imaginative artists including The Triffids, The Drones, The Panics, Pigram Brothers, The Waifs, John Butler, Kim Scott, Tim Winton, Robert Drewe and Shaun Tan.

Massive in scale and ambition, this one-off outdoor theatre spectacular will reflect on what the Western Australian landscape and concept of ‘home’ means to our artists, in a work that is evocative of a sense of place from the suburbs to the sea and from our backyards to the bush.

Perth International Arts Festival Artistic Director Wendy Martin said: “It’s so exciting watching this project grow and develop and working alongside an incredible Western Australian creative team. I am thrilled that Tim Minchin – WA’s international megastar – has made the time in his intense schedule to be part of the biggest home grown PIAF opening event ever.”

Tim Minchin said: “I can’t wait to come home for Home. It is incredibly exciting and moving to be involved in a home-grown event on this awesome scale, to be working with the likes of Nigel Jamieson, my old friend Iain Grandage, and the great Richard Walley, and to have the privilege of sharing a stage with such an extraordinary line-up of West Australian performers and artists.”

Home is directed by Nigel Jamieson, a master builder of grand public performance that combines scale, emotion and meaning. He has collaborated with Noongar elder and artist Dr Richard Walley to create a testament to our artists through the powerful sense of place in their work.

Presented on Langley Park, Home is a narrative driven concert spectacular celebrating the beauty of the Western Australian landscape and the importance of passing this on to our children.

Home is engaging with the local community through PIAF Connect. Supported by our Principal Partner, Lotterywest, PIAF Connect offers support for the creative process across all art forms in an endeavour to enable Western Australian artists and companies to achieve their artistic ambitions.

WHERE: Langley Park

WHEN: Saturday, 13 February, 7.30pm (90 minutes, no interval)
