PLANNED OUTAGE – Major Core UWA Network Upgrade

Description: As part of the UWA IT Transformation Program, major changes to the UWA IT network (Network Consolidation project) are required to improve network resiliency and reliability. This initial project phase will result in an extended network outage campus wide between 08:00 and 15:00 on the 20th of December, which will prevent access to all systems. As this work is being performed on UWA’s core network infrastructure, access to UWA services and applications cannot be guaranteed for the entire duration of the work. It is extremely important that this work be undertaken during this low usage period. BITS will make all efforts to minimise outage times and impact on all users of UWA IT services.
Affected areas: All Campuses
- Wireless Services
- Staff and Student Email access
- UniConnect VPN
- Internet and Website Access
- Student Printing
- Lecture Capture System
- Access to all UWA Applications (including – but not limited to – ESS, Callista, LMS, Alesco, PeopleSoft)
- Telephony Services except QEII and University Hall (Note: if UWA Security need to be contacted in case of emergency during this period, please ring 08 6488 2222)
In addition, all lifts on campus will not be operating between the times of approximately 8am – 3pm.
The lifts will return to normal operations following the completion of the works.
