We are delighted to announce a major refurbishment project will commence in the Reid Library over the 2015/2016 intersemester break.

On completion (expected late June 2016), the number of student spaces for collaborative and informal learning in Reid Library will increase from 350 to 700. The project will also deliver significant improvements to the facilities, technology and services offered to students including upgraded bathrooms, access to wifi and power and a new café.

Since its completion in 1964 Reid Library has adapted to radical technological changes, accommodated the growing university community and remained one of the busiest and most loved spaces on campus throughout. It receives over 1 million visits per year, and is open 24/7 during busy periods in the academic year. The planned refurbishments will ensure that Reid Library remains a high quality facility for student learning, with the technology and facilities to meet the needs of the UWA community.

There will be some unavoidable disruptions to services to implement this vital project. Given the scale of work being undertaken, the Reid Library building will be closed from 22nd November 2015 to late February 2016.

Although the building will be closed, the University Library will be offering a range of ongoing services to support regular users. These include a daily collection request and retrieval service, alternative study areas for postgraduate students and access to high demand collections required for summer courses or supplementary examinations in alternative Library locations. Our five other campus libraries will be open and accessible to all users throughout this period.

The plans for this project are innovative and reflect our aim to provide a world- class student experience. We thank our users for their support and patience during this period.
