Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) students have been inspired by a visit from a UWA Finance expert.

Professor Ray da Silva Rosa , from the UWA Business School , explained to the HKBU students how Finance graduates can build successful global careers.

The Hong Kong students, who are currently completing an advanced diploma in a business-related area, will be eligible for entry straight into the second year of UWA’s Bachelor of Commerce when a new agreement between UWA and HKBU comes into effect.

Professor da Silva Rosa was impressed with the HKBU students’ participation in extracurricular activities.

“I was impressed by the effort Hong Kong Baptist University put into organising a diverse array of programs that ensured students had opportunities to develop more than their book learning,” Professor da Silva Rosa said.

While in Hong Kong, Professor da Silva Rosa also took the opportunity to reflect on the development of the Asian territory’s economy.

“Hong Kong is very impressive.  To recall the way it was a couple of decades back and to see it now is to be mightily impressed,” he said.

“When we develop links with universities in regions such as Hong Kong, we also provide our students with an opportunity to analyse and think about the way these economies have developed and what it implies for our view of the world.”
