This weekend more than 400 UWA students and community members will spend 24 hours walking, running, and jogging laps of the Oak Lawn in pursuit of a cure for cancer. It’s all to raise money for the Cancer Council as part of the UWA Student Guild’s 6th Relay for Life which celebrates survivors, remembers those lost and fights back the disease that affects so many lives.

Over the past five years students have raised more than half a million dollars through this annual event, and so far this year they are almost halfway to their $120,000 goal. Please consider donating to Relay@UWA. Every contribution goes towards invaluable support services for people affected by cancer:

  • $5 can help the Cancer Council provide information resources to newly-diagnosed cancer patients
  • $25 can help the Cancer Council provide patients with transport to and from hospital for treatment
  • $50 can help the Cancer Council maintain their free, confidential phone helpline
  • $100 can help the Cancer Council provide free accommodation for cancer patients, their families and carers during treatment

Cancer survivors and carers are also welcome to join the first lap of Relay@UWA on Saturday at 12pm.
