Dear Colleagues,

After an extensive international recruitment search, the Vice-Chancellor and I are delighted to announce that we have appointed a new Dean for the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry & Health Sciences.

Professor Wendy Erber will take the position of Dean from December 2015.

Professor Erber has been Head of the School of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine since arriving at UWA in 2011 and is also currently the Chair of the Academic Promotions Committee. Prior to joining us she was Director of Haematology and Head of the East of England Haemato-Oncology Diagnostic Service at Addenbrooke Hospital and an associate lecturer at the University of Cambridge. Professor Erber has 29 years medical experience and since arriving at UWA she has been a major force for innovative change in the School of Pathology including the development of the E-learning suites which aligns with UWAs Education Futures strategy.

The Vice-Chancellor and I will attend a special full faculty board meeting next Monday at 12pm to discuss both the scope and direction of the faculty under Professor Erber’s leadership.

I hope you will join me in congratulating Professor Erber as she leads the Faculty during a very important and critical time.

Professor Geoff Riley will remain in the role of Dean until early December and I speak on behalf of the entire senior team when I say how grateful we are to Geoff for his generous leadership of the Faculty during 2015.
